Milan’s search for a new sporting director has come down to two primary candidates, but the club is taking its time to ensure they make the right choice in this pivotal appointment.

After ruling out François-Joseph Modesto—backed by chief scout Geoffrey Moncada—and with Andrea Berta expected to join Arsenal, the Rossoneri have identified Fabio Paratici and Igli Tare as the two most viable options.

Why Milan’s search for a new sporting director is bothering Furlani

In recent days, RedBird advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic and owner Gerry Cardinale met with both Tare and Paratici in London, a move that reportedly frustrated CEO Giorgio Furlani, as reported by Calciomercato.com.

Feeling sidelined from discussions that could reshape the club’s hierarchy, Furlani publicly insisted that ‘all decisions go through me’ before Milan’s recent 2-1 defeat against Lazio.

Despite this, Ibrahimović and Cardinale remain intent on pressing ahead. Paratici has signaled his full availability to take over the role on the condition that he receives full control of the sporting sector and autonomy in assembling his team.

Meanwhile, Tare appears to be emerging as the frontrunner, as both Ibrahimović and Moncada are said to favor his appointment.

With tensions brewing behind the scenes, Milan’s next move could shape the club’s future for years to come.
