Official: Hincapié signs for Arsenal

Piero Hincapié has officially joined Arsenal.

Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed that Piero Hincapié has joined Arsenal on loan with a purchase obligation.

“Piero Hincapié is a prime example of our philosophy: developing young players with exceptional talent into professionals who not only help us achieve our goals but also establish themselves at the very highest level for both club and country,” said Bayer 04 sporting managing director Simon Rolfes.

“We have successfully followed this path with Piero, who now wants to challenge himself in a new environment. After an outstanding time together in Leverkusen, we wish him all the best for the future – with a heavy heart.”

The 23-year-old centre-back, who spent four years at Bayer 04, added:

“My time at Bayer 04 has given me so much, not just as a footballer. I became more confident and mature in Leverkusen, and I learned what can be achieved through hard work and commitment.

“I will never forget the support of all the staff and fans at Bayer 04, and I’ll always wish the club continued success.”
