Liverpool have confirmed they have reached an agreement to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili, with the goalkeeper set to spend one final season with Valencia before joining Arne Slot’s side next summer.
Mamardashvili attracted attention after his standout performances for Georgia at Euro 2024, with the 23-year-old making more saves than any other keeper at the tournament.
Newcastle had been strongly linked with a move for Mamardashvili at the start of the summer but they failed to agree a deal with Valencia, allowing Liverpool to swoop in.

The details of Mamardashvili’s deal have not been formally announced but he is believed to have cost Liverpool €30 million plus €5m in add-ons as well as penning a six-year deal at Anfield.
Mamardashvili is understood to have been loaned out to Valencia for the coming season, meaning the signing will be Liverpool’s first under Slot since his appointment in June.
Mamardashvili approved by Liverpool number one
The Reds have been dealing with intense speculation surrounding the future of Alisson, having seen the 31-year-old be the subject of an approach from the Saudi Pro League.
However, the Brazilian turned down the move and gave his blessing to Mamardashvili’s arrival as his successor, insisting Liverpool had to do what is best for the club.

“The club needs to prepare for the future,” the Brazil international told The Times. “We are not going to last forever here, I am getting old!
“No, for a goalkeeper I am still young, I have a lot of energy and I still have much to give for this club and I want to give to the club as much as I can.
“They will do it for different positions as well. We have so many important players with the contract expiring and the club needs to organise themselves for the future.
“I think it was a good idea. I knew about that [Mamardashvili] before it came out on social media and that is a good message for me because the club cares about what I think.
“They are doing the right thing but, on my side, as long as I have my contract here and as long as I am happy here, the club is happy with me, my family is happy here, [so] I will stay.”
