After signing American midfielder James Sands yesterday, FC St. Pauli have also wrapped up the rumored loan of SC Freiburg attacker Noah Weißhaupt on Day Two of the January 2025 transfer window. Like Sands, the 23-year-old will work with Hamburg’s “Kiezkicker” on a six-month-long deal.

Weißhaupt fills the need vacated by the loss of Elias Saas on the left attacking flank. The Germany U21 international joins Freiburg’s Robert Wagner as another Freiburg U21 prospect on loan with the Hanseatic city-state side. Carlo Boukhalfa and Philipp Treu have also represented SCF in the past.

Rumors persist that Andreas Bornemann and the St. Pauli administrative team are working on sealing a deal for Gambian striker Abdoulie Ceesay. German journalist Sebastian Wolff of Kicker magazine quotes both manager Bornemann and head-coach Alexander Blessin listing Ceesay as a target.

“This signing gives us additional options in the offensive wing positions,” Bornemann said of the Weißhaupt deal. “Noah is very well trained in football and, in addition to his dynamism, he also has the flexibility to play on both sides. He has a lot of experience at Bundesliga level, which is why we are convinced that he will immediately play a positive role with us.”

“I’m looking forward to my time in Hamburg and to playing in front of the fans at Millerntor,” Weißhaupt himself added. “I believe that I will take the next step in my development here. After all, this has also worked very well for other players from Freiburg.”
