Liverpool could land a surprising transfer windfall from Trent Alexander-Arnold as Real Madrid aim to secure the services of the England full-back early.
Alexander-Arnold is one of three Liverpool stars out of contract at the end of the season and is, therefore, liable to leave as a free agent. This stands in contrast to Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk, who are both seen as likely to sign a new deal with the Anfield side.

In a shocking twist, it has emerged that in order to secure the signature of the 26-year-old, Real Madrid will be willing to pay for him in a special transfer window, according to The Sun.
The Bernabeu side have decided to take this action in order to have the player in their squad for the FIFA Club World Cup, which begins in the USA on Saturday, 14 June.

FIFA’s unique transfer window
FIFA has given the green light to an additional transfer window for leagues with clubs participating in the competition. This will run from 1 June to 10 June. There is also an ‘exceptional registration window’ from June 27 to July 3 that will allow clubs to add new signings to their squads before the last 16 of the competition.
As such, Real Madrid are still in position to spend on Alexander-Arnold, whose contract with Liverpool does not expire until 30 June – midway through the new tournament.
The Red could also find themselves in a similar situation with Salah, given that much of the interest in the Egypt international comes from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, who are also competing in the competition.

Real Madrid still pushing for Trent
Los Blancos offered Liverpool a rumoured €30 million to sign Alexander-Arnold during January, but this was rapidly knocked back by the Anfield club, who targeted a figure in the region of €70m to lose their right-back prematurely.
The transfer window at June will be a different story, though. Liverpool will have no fixtures and Alexander-Arnold will expect to be on holiday. There is no reason for the Anfield club not to release him early if it is confirmed he will be leaving for Real Madrid.
Any fee the Spaniards pay for Alexander-Arnold to sign a month before the end of his Liverpool deal is, therefore, likely to be a token figure.
