Revealed: The club who could offer Man United’s Antony a lifeline on loan – and the one stumbling block in their way

Real Betis want Manchester United winger Antony on loan but a deal is deemed ‘unaffordable’ at this stage. 

The Brazilian has not started a league game for United this season but has found himself being used off the bench by Ruben Amorim.

Erik ten Hag made Antony, his former charge at Ajax, one of his first signings in 2022 in a mega £85.5million move, but things have not gone to plan. 

Finding a club to take a high-earning player on loan can be a challenge. In the cases of Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund and Mason Greenwood at Getafe last season, the Red Devils paid a portion of the stars’ wages to make deals financially viable.

Recently, Antony’s agent Junior Pedroso told GiveMeSport that his client is willing to go out on loan. 

‘Many clubs have approached us for Antony’s move in January,’ he said. 

‘These clubs wanted to understand the situation for Antony, so I can confirm that there’s concrete interest.

‘I can say that Antony’s future is very much tied to Manchester United’s interests. If the club thinks it would be a good idea to loan Antony out in January so he can get more minutes and regain his trust, we will work together on that option.

‘Otherwise, Antony is working hard to regain his place and show his best skills under the new coach Ruben Amorim.’

Betis, managed by Manuel Pellegrini, are ninth in LaLiga. United are open to offers for the majority of their squad.
