Ruben Amorim and Jim Ratcliffe plan €180m spending spree

Manchester United have set aside a whopping €180 million to sign two big-name stars in 2025.

According to TalkSport, Man Utd plan to splash the cash on Jarrad Branthwaite and Viktor Gyokeres at the end of the season.

Branthwaite has been a long-term target of United, who had two bids worth as high as €60m rejected for the Everton centre back.

TalkSport reports that United will return for Branthwaite at the end of the season, with new United manager Ruben Amorim considering him a good fit for his 3-4-3 system.

Amorim will also move for a more familiar name in his ex-Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Gyokeres is the most wanted striker in Europe having scored an incredible 32 goals this season already for club and country, as well as 58 in the calendar year.

United are prepared to pay the €100 million release clause in his Sporting contract in order to guarantee that he joins United.

The Red Devils are separately working on the signing of Alphonso Davies on a free transfer from Bayern Munich.

Davies will leave Bayern when his contract expires at the end of the season.

However, United face competition from Real Madrid and Barcelona, and the European champions are regarded as strong favourites to sign the left back.

Quiet January transfer window for Man Utd

Transfer journalist David Ornstein reported on Tuesday that United are unlikely to do too much transfer business during the January transfer market, as they save their money for a big summer in 2025.

Amorim was appointed as Man Utd manager this month following the sacking of Erik ten Hag.

He will oversee his first game as Man Utd manager on Saturday against Ipswich Town.

United are struggling down in 13th place in the Premier League after a disastrous start to the season under Ten Hag.
