Ruud van Nistelrooy in ‘HEATED’ training ground bust up with Leicester City star

Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has elected to take a hardline approach with midfielder Harry Winks after the former Tottenham Hotspur star refused to bow to a request from the Dutch boss.

Van Nistelrooy took over at the King Power Stadium from Steve Cooper in December but has failed to get a tune out of the Foxes. With eight matches left in the Premier League season, they are heading back towards the Championship as they face a 12-point gap to safety.

Leicester are on an eight-match losing streak and have failed to score in their last seven Premier League games, but that has not stopped the former Manchester United interim boss from trying to make improvements.

One of those was to demand that Harry Winks stop making a 100-mile commute to the club on a daily basis and instead stay at the training ground one night a week, according to The Telegraph.

It states: “Van Nistelrooy reacted angrily to what he perceived as indiscipline and excluded Winks from his squad for Wednesday night’s match at Manchester City. Leicester’s manager was keen for Winks to stay overnight to aid preparation, with the squad training in the afternoon before a session the following morning.”

The clash between Winks and Van Nistelrooy is said to have been “heated”.

While no reason for the midfielder’s response has been made public, he shared the news on Thursday that he has become the father to a baby girl.

Vestergaard put in the dog house by Van Nistelrooy?

This is not the first incident of this kind that Van Nistelrooy has been involved in.

It was revealed last month by The Telegraph that Jannick Vestergaard has brought his dog to the training ground as there was no one at his home to care for it. The 32-year-old centre-back has not appeared for Leicester since.

Winks’ future with the Foxes, meanwhile, appears uncertain following the incident.
