Scott McTominay has provided an update on his condition after being substituted in Man United‘s draw with Burnley.

United found themselves in a protracted stalemate with Vincent Kompany‘s struggling side at Old Trafford, with the game goalless at the hour mark.

McTominay has made a habit of having a significant impact off the bench this season and was brought on to replace Kobbie Mainoo as the hosts looked to break the deadlock.

Shortly after Antony would do just that, latching on to a loose ball to fire past Arijanet Muric and notch his second Premier League goal of the campaign.

Zeki Amdouni levelled for Burnley from the penalty spot, and United’s afternoon went from bad to worse when McTominay went down with a knee issue in stoppage time.

The 27-year-old limped off the pitch in clear discomfort, sparking concern among supporters that he could be set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines.

However, McTominay allayed fears in a post on social media, insisting the injury was ‘nothing serious’.

‘I slipped & fell awkward on my knee similar to against Chelsea,’ he wrote on his Instagram story.

‘Nothing serious just hyperextension but I was angry and upset that I thought it was worse than it was.

‘Hoping to be back on the pitch very soon to help the team as much as I can.’

The update will bring significant relief to United boss Erik ten Hag as his side prepare to take on bitter rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley next month.

However, the 27-year-old assued supporters that the issue was not as serious as first feared and that he hopes to return soon

McTominay is also expected to be included in Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for the upcoming European Championships this summer.

Deployed in a more advanced role that he has become accustomed to at United, McTominay was instrumental in helping Scotland qualify for the finals in Germany, netting seven from seven starts as they finished second in Group A.
