Chelsea defender Thiago Silva is reported to be prone to ‘sulking’ if his high standards are not being met.
The Brazilian centre-back has been a huge asset to the Blues since he signed on a free transfer in 2020.
Silva arrived at Stamford Bridge with a depth of experience across the top of European football to his name.
He helped guide Chelsea to their second ever Champions League title in his debut season and has proven to be a rock in defence ever since.
Now at the age of 39 and in the twilight stages of his illustrious career, Silva has captained the side on 21 different occasions.
It now seems as though he is gearing up to enter the world of coaching once he hangs up his boots.
The Telegraph report that Silva has been vocal to his managers at Chelsea about how he thinks the team should setup tactically.
He is said to have a ‘demanding’ presence at their Cobham training ground but if others fail to meet his high standards, sources told the outlet claim he is known to ‘sulk’.
Like many of his co-stars at Chelsea, Silva has had to battle through a difficult and testing run of months both on and off the pitch.
The Blues’ immediate future was thrown into chaos last February when the club’s former owner Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK Government amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Chelsea were sold to Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital a few months later, although their tenure has so far been unsuccessful.
Despite unprecedented amounts of spending on new signings, the west London side finished 12th last season and have endured a slow start to the current campaign.
Chelsea have won just twice in six games this season, with their two wins coming against Luton and AFC Wimbledon.
Silva has featured in all five of their Premier League matches thus far, with their last result seeing them draw 0-0 away at Bournemouth.
Given his immense success during his first season at the club, you can forgive the defender for growing frustrated with a slip in standards.
Chelsea will be hoping to return to winning ways this weekend at home to Aston Villa, with Silva set to showcase his experience and leadership once again.
