Tottenham confirm fixture against Nottingham Forest will go ahead despite murder probe being launched after a man was found stabbed to death outside the stadium

Tottenham‘s Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest will go ahead as scheduled this afternoon despite a man being found dead outside the stadium.

Police and paramedics were called to Northumberland Park on the outskirts of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A man was found dead with a number of stab injuries, the Metropolitan Police said.

CPR was administered but the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Supporters have been advised to allow for extra travel time, with the whole of Northumberland Park Road and the north end of Worcester Avenue closed.

Spurs have also said they are doing their utmost to accommodate the investigation. 

‘As things stand, this afternoon’s Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest will go-ahead as scheduled, however the north end of Worcester Avenue and the whole of Northumberland Park Road will remain closed throughout,’ the club said.

‘We shall update supporters as and when we can, and ask for fans to be patient and allow extra travel time.’ 

Several photos showing a crime scene outside the venue have been posted online.

Officers believe they know who the man is and are working to inform his next of kin. There have been no arrests made at this stage.

Chief Inspector Stephen Johnston-Keay, who polices in Haringey, said: ‘Our thoughts are with the man who has tragically lost his life.

‘I can assure local people that specialist detectives are investigating and will leave no stone unturned in working to establish what happened to him, and to identify and arrest those responsible.

‘I would like to thank local people for their patience and understanding while we go about this crucial work.

‘If you have information that could help us, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please tell us. You will see officers on the cordons and on patrol and they will be ready to listen to you.’
