Trent Alexander-Arnold is back in training for Liverpool, ahead of a crunch week with games against Real Madrid and Manchester City.

The 26-year-old took part in an open training session at the AXA Training Centre, ahead of Liverpool’s game against Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Alexander-Arnold was forced off during the win over Aston Villa before the international break with a hamstring injury and subsequently pulled out of the England squad.

He has also been linked with a move to Real Madrid, with his current Liverpool contract expiring at the end of the season.

It remains to be seen whether or not he will start against Madrid on Wednesday. Conor Bradley filled in during Liverpool’s win at Southampton on Sunday.

Arne Slot is expected to issue a full injury update during his pre-match press conference which will take place at 3.15pm.

Federico Chiesa was training alone before the session and joined the main group but there was no sign of Alisson Becker or Diogo Jota.

Mohamed Salah was also present in Liverpool training, two days on from his bombshell statement that he has yet to be offered a new Liverpool contract.

The forward, 32, conducted a rare chat with Mail Sport and a small group of other reporters after scoring twice in the 3-2 victory at Southampton, where he said he was ‘more out than in’ and criticised the club.

Addressing his contract stand-off, Salah said: ‘We are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club.’

‘I’m probably more out than in. You know I have been in the club for many years.

‘There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future.

‘I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans’ hands.’

Salah has started this season on fire under new manager Arne Slot, scoring 12 goals in 18 appearances across all competitions.

The Egyptian forward’s comments came after he struck twice in their 3-2 win over Southampton on Sunday.

Liverpool will hope to main their perfect start to the Champions League when they host Real Madrid at Anfield on Wednesday.

The Reds are the only team in the new-look Champions League to boost a 100 per cent record after winning all for of their matches to date.

Arne Slot’s side will then host Man City in the Premier League on Sunday, knowing a victory would take them 11 points clear of the defending champions.
