Napoli were left ‘very annoyed’ by the antics of Alejandro Garnacho‘s agents in January and will not return for the Manchester United star in the summer window, according to Italian media.

The Argentine was one of the protagonists of the winter window as Man Utd were willing, albeit reluctantly, to cash in on him. Due to their worrying Profit and Sustainability situation, the Red Devils were open to €70 million offers for Garnacho.

Those bids ultimately never materialised as clubs felt that this valuation was inflated, but Napoli and Chelsea nevertheless expressed an interest. In the end, Man Utd refused to budge from their position and the 20-year-old stayed put.

With the summer window slowly but surely approaching, Man Utd’s stance on Garnacho has not changed as their financial situation remains the same. With this in mind, they will once again engage with suitors in the hope of raising enough funds for a summer rebuild.

Napoli won’t return for Garnacho

After missing out on Garnacho and failing to land former Newcastle man Allan Saint-Maximin, Napoli ended up swooping for AC Milan winger Noah Okafor late in the January window.

However, the 24-year-old is only on loan, so it has been suggested that the 2023 Scudetto winners could pursue Garnacho again in the summer. According to Il Mattino, though, this will not be the case.

The Italian outlet reports that the Naples club were left ‘very annoyed’ by Garnacho’s representatives during their talks in January. He was their top target to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia after his move to PSG, but the demands from the Argentine’s camp, in addition to the transfer fee, made a deal unfeasible.

It is claimed that Garnacho’s agents actually had managed to reach an agreement on contract terms with Napoli only to eventually renege on the deal and demand a higher salary and commission. This, in turn, upsets the Serie A giants and sporting director Giovanni Manna.

“It is unlikely that Manna will return to the fray for Manchester United’s Garnacho,” the report states. “Napoli were very annoyed by the attitude of the Argentine’s managers.”
