Thiago Scuro and Markus Krösche will reportedly meet Giorgio Furlani in the coming weeks to discuss a possible appointment as Milan’s sporting director, but who are they, and what should Rossoneri fans expect?

Milan owner Gerry Cardinale has reportedly tasked Furlani with finding a new sporting director for the Rossoneri.

Cardinale and Zlatan Ibrahimovic already met Fabio Paratici, Andrea Berta and Igli Tare, but Furlani will meet at least two new candidates in the coming weeks.

According to Gazzetta, Tare remains Cardinale and Ibra’s favourite candidate, but Eintracht Frankfurt’s Markus Krösche and Monaco’s Thiago Scuro are also among Milan’s targets. But who are they, and what can Milan expect?

Krösche is a former Werder Bremen midfielder, but his football career is undoubtedly tied to Paderborn, where he scored 15 goals in 356 appearances. He also served as Paderborn II coach in 2014-15 and Bayer Leverkusen’s assistant coach from 2015 to 2017.

Krösche worked as RB Leipzig’s sporting director from 2019 to 2021, when he eventually joined Leipzig’s domestic rivals Eintracht Frankfurt, the club he’s still working for.

Angeliño, Dani Olmo, Christopher Nkunku, Timo Werner and Patrick Schick were among his most relevant signings in Leipzig, while Randal Kolo Muani and Omar Marmoush were probably the most brilliant deals during his spell at Frankfurt.

Monaco’s Thiago Scuro doesn’t have a background as a professional footballer, but he’s been working successfully at Monaco for the last two years after starting his career in Brazil.

Thiago Scuro became the Red Bull Sporting Director in 2015 before being appointed by Cruzeiro in 2015. He served as Bragantino’s CEO from 2019 to 2023, when he was ultimately appointed by Ligue 1 side Monaco.

He is currently a Board Member and the General Manager of the French side.

Thiago Scuro has identified, signed and developed several promising players at Monaco, including Folarin Balogun, Denis Zakaria, Wilfried Singo, and Thilo Kehrer.

Thiago Scuro had also been linked with Arsenal, who picked Andrea Berta instead, and Furlani already met him over the summer to discuss Youssouf Fofana’s move to San Siro.
