RB Leipzig begin their European campaign on Tuesday as they travel to Switzerland to take on Young Boys in their first Champions League group stage match.

Marco Rose’s side go into the game in good form, having won their last three games against Stuttgart, Union Berlin and Augsburg by a goal difference of 11-1.

Most recently, they comfortably beat Augsburg 3-0 at home, with new signing Xavi Simons continuing his fine form with a goal and an assist.

The 20-year-old PSG loanee has immediately become a key player for Leipzig, registering three goals and four assists in four Bundesliga appearances so far.

His importance has only increased with the announcement that Spanish maestro Dani Olmo will be sidelined for several weeks.

Emil Forsberg played in Olmo’s absence against Augsburg and is likely to continue in the attacking midfield role against Young Boys, with Fabio Carvalho and Christoph Baumgartner the alternatives.

The ‘Red Bulls’ will also be without defensive anchor Willi Orban, with young French defender Castello Lukeba expected to fill in again after his convincing performance against Augsburg.

David Raum is expected to be available despite picking up a knock against Augsburg, while Lukas Klostermann could return to the squad if he manages to shake off his injury in time for the game.

Young Boys should have a fully fit squad for the game, with head coach Raphael Wicky set to deploy his usual 4-3-1-2 formation.

The Swiss champions are unbeaten this season and have won four of their last five matches.
