Olympique de Marseille chief Pablo Longoria has dismissed links with Paul Pogba as more of a ‘dream rather than reality.’

The Frenchman’s search for a new club continues. Pogba is a free agent after having his Juventus contract terminated following the reduction of his doping ban from four years to 18 months.

The former Man Utd midfielder will officially be allowed to return to training in January and begin featuring in competitive fixtures in March, but so far, Pogba is still looking for his next employer.

There have been shocking links with a return to Man Utd as well as some sensational Man City rumours, but at this stage in his career, Pogba’s career at Premier League level is likely over.

Instead, he could move to his native France where one of the most persistent links has associated him with Olympique de Marseille.

Marseille rumours dismissed

The rumours surrounding a link-up with Roberto de Zerbi’s side have been stoked by Marseille midfielder Adrien Rabiot who has, on more than one occasion, expressed his wish for the club to sign Pogba.

Despite the France international’s comments, little in the way of concrete negotiations has materialised and president Pablo Longoria has now set the record straight on the matter, dismissing suggestions that the Ligue 1 side are in talks with Pogba.

“Currently there are no discussions. There are no talks ongoing with Paul and still no decision. I am not closing the door because he is on the market but there is a whole load of news surrounding Paul. These are more speculation and dreams rather than reality,” Longoria said.

Pogba is understood to have interest from the United States, the Middle East and European clubs but it seems that so far no one has moved to initiate formal negotiations with his camp just yet.
