Chelsea fans fuming as Nottingham Forest refuse to name loanee in Premier League squad

Chelsea fans are incandescent with rage after noticing that Andrey Santos was not even named on Nottingham Forest’s bench.

Forest are facing Manchester City on Saturday afternoon at the Etihad – a daunting encounter for any side in Europe.

Nevertheless, it is a challenge that any player would love to contest in – especially one as talented as Santos, who has been tipped for a big future.

However, Steve Cooper has decided to leave the Brazilian wonderkid out of his squad altogether.

And it has led Chelsea fans to fume at Forest, who are beginning to believe that loaning them the midfielder was a mistake.

One fan said: “Andrey Santos is not even making the Nottingham Forest bench.. Absolutely disgraceful loan.”

Another wrote: “Nottingham Forest is already looking like a bad loan move for Andrey Santos, he’s not even on the bench for them today.”

While this fan said: “Get Andrey Santos back from Forest immediately. What a waste of time him being there. Not even on the bench.”

A fourth posted: “Andrey Santos impressed me in the minutes he got in pre-season, no way whatsoever should he be going into matchdays not even in the squad. His move to Forest is looking a terrible one so far.”

This fan tweeted: “Andrey Santos is not on the bench for Nottingham Forest. Looking like a bad loan spell.”

And this supporter put: “So sad Andrey Santos isn’t even on the bench for Nottingham Forest today, he isn’t going to get the minutes he need, the main reason we loaned him, I feel we need to call him back in January.”

Santos was signed by Forest in the summer on a season-long loan after the midfielder joined Chelsea in January earlier this year.

Upon signing for the Blues, he was allowed to see out the year with Vasco da Gama, who he joined from and the idea was to break him into English football.

But the 19-year-old has not seen a single minute of action at the City Ground this season in the Premier League, though he did play in the Carabao Cup in a 1-0 loss to Burnley.

And his chances of playing were hit by a double Deadline Day signing when Cooper splashed out on two midfielders in Ibrahim Sangare and Nicolas Dominguez.

Santos starred for his country earlier this year after captaining the Brazil Under-20 side to glory at the South American U-20 Championship.

As well as taking on the armband, he also finished as the tournament’s highest goalscorer with six goals, alongside teammate and fellow talent Vitor Roque.
