Kylian Mbappe looks ‘lost’ at Real Madrid, according to former France captain and UEFA president Michel Platini.
The Frenchman’s struggles in Spain’s capital continue. At the weekend, he put in an encouraging performance against Leganes in his favoured left-wing position, while Vinicius Jr was tested as an emergency No.9.
Mbappe kept his place against Liverpool midweek due to Vinicius suffering an injury but he could not put in a similarly impressive display as he had done just mere days earlier.

The 25-year-old had a penalty saved by the Reds’ spot-kick killer-in-chief Caoimhin Kelleher and generally disappointed over the course of the match, only starting to show off his talents late in the game when all was already lost en route to a 2-0 defeat.
It continued a general trend of underwhelming performances since his switch to Real Madrid in the summer and a lot has naturally been said about the Frenchman since the game at Anfield.
Platini: ‘Mbappe looks lost’
The fact that Mbappe couldn’t decisively affect the Liverpool match in his preferred position – and despite going up against the relatively inexperienced Conor Bradley – will have set off alarm bells in Madrid.
Mbappe, of course, is also a hotly debated name in his native France, perhaps even more so than in Spain. Even Les Bleus legend Michel Platini has now chimed in. “I find him lost on the pitch,” the controversial former UEFA president said in quotes relayed by L’Equipe.

However, he backed him to overcome his issues. “A great champion must rise from the ashes, methodically. That is what will make Kylian a great champion.” Platini hopes that “it will only be a small slump, for French football and for him.”
Los Blancos take on Getafe on Sunday before travelling to Bilbao to face Athletic Club midweek. It will be interesting to see how Mbappe reacts to his Liverpool disasterclass.
