  • Roy Keane believes United showed some attacking swagger in win over Everton

  • Nobody’s fooled by the nature of Man United’s performances this season – IAKO

Roy Keane felt that Manchester United showed some long-lost attacking swagger in their 3-0 win against Everton on Sunday

A wonder-strike from Alejandro Garnacho was followed by second-half goals by Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial as United secured their biggest win in the Premier League this season.

The victory extended their run to five wins from their last six league matches as they closed the gap on the top four to four points.

However, recent wins have been characterised by late goals and narrow margins, and this was an all-together more impressive showing in front of a hostile Goodison Park crowd

With all three of Erik ten Hag‘s forwards getting on the scoresheet, the Dutchman will surely be feeling slightly less pressure ahead of a vital Champions League tie against Galatasaray in Istanbul on Wednesday.

Former United captain Keane was pleased with what he saw, particularly some neat interplay that saw Martial win a penalty from an Ashley Young foul, allowing Rashford to slot home from 12 yards.

He said: ‘It’s about their attacking players producing at important moments. United haven’t been scoring enough goals this season.

‘They [Everton] can argue all day, its a penalty, he’s left his leg in there. Martial, I’m not his biggest fan, but he’s positive.

‘It was nice to see Marcus take it and lash it in. When the second one goes in, its game over.

‘United have a little bit of their swagger back, definitely.’

There was further reason for Ten Hag to celebrate on Merseyside, with 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo excelling on his first league start for the club

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville suggested that the youngster looked ‘more composed than anyone’ on the pitch and was United’s ‘best player by a street’.

He still elected to award the player of the match award to Garnacho following his breath-taking overhead kick though, and nobody at Neville’s former club will be getting carried away given difficult fixtures against Newcastle United, Chelsea and Liverpool await them in the coming weeks.
