The Athletic reports that Salah was considering a sensational free transfer move to former Chelsea.
Salah was motivated by a desire to prove himself at Stamford Bridge after failing in his first spell at the club from 2014 to 2016. In the end, though, the transfer was not really possible from Chelsea’s end while Salah did not want to tarnish his Liverpool legacy so opted to extend at Anfield.

Mo Salah new Liverpool contract
Salah finally signed his new Liverpool contract, putting to an end speculation that he could leave for the Saudi Pro League, who have been chasing him for over two years now.
Liverpool have not announced how long Salah’s new commitment to the club is, but it is believed that his new contract will run until 2027.
It means that the Egypt international star is poised to complete a decade at Anfield.
In a statement released on the club’s official website, the Reds stated: “Liverpool FC can announce Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract that will keep him with the club beyond the 2024-25 season.”
Salah himself explained why he turned down the prospect of a lucrative move to the Saudi Pro League.
“Of course I’m very excited. We have a great team now. Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football,” he said.
“It’s great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it’s going to be 10. Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career.
“I would like to say to [the fans], I am very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together. Keep supporting us and we’ll give it our best, and hopefully in the future we’re going to win more trophies.”

Salah has scored an incredible 243 goals in 394 games and is enjoying another brilliant season this term as he has the most goals and assists in Europe’s top leagues.
He has 32 goals and 22 assists in all competitions and is set to win another Premier League title.
Salah has already won one Premier League, a Champions League, FA Cup, two League Cups, a FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Community Shield at Liverpool.
